I too was a long time member of the Literary Guild and would order books and have them bill me. Then they changed to this points policy and wanted a credit card to put on file.

I called them as e-mailing them did NOT work. The guy I spoke to explained the points policy that if I agreed to every month would be billing my credit card even if I didn't get a book!! Sounded like a bad idea and I cancelled my membership before giving them a credit card. Sad because they used to have good deals, buy one ,get one free, the more books you buy the cheaper they were, like 3 books for $33.

Well Amazon has my business now. I'm sure Literary Guild will go out of business if they don't change their policies.

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

Good decision. Best to never, ever give your credit card info to book clubs, magazine subscriptions, just about anyone as many places now like to auto bill you and once they do, it causes alot of frustration trying to correct the situation.

By the way, Amazon is a good place to buy books, but may I suggest another: try Edward R. Hamilton. They have a website that you can go to to find books, but even better is to go to their site and request they send you their catalogs. They have cheap books and charge a flat $3.50 shipping for your ENTIRE order, whether it be one or a hundred books.

The website is:

hamiltonbook.com.
